Track your session packs on Horsora!

Published on August 18, 2026 · Updated on September 6, 2026 · 6 min read · Antoine, founder of Horsora

The 10-session pack is a staple of stables and riding schools. Keeping track of it is another story: punch cards, a notebook by the front desk, the instructor's memory. And the eternal question: "How many sessions do I have left?"

Horsora now tracks your session packs for you. You record the pack, Horsora debits one session per confirmed booking, and everyone sees the balance in real time. Here is how to set it up, on the web and on mobile.

Why track your packs in Horsora?

  • One reliable balance, visible to everyone. You, your team and the rider all see the same number. No more debates about how many sessions are left.
  • Automatic debits. A confirmed booking on a lesson means one session debited. A cancellation means one session re-credited. Nothing to tally by hand.
  • A complete history. Every movement is recorded, with the date of the session it relates to.

Horsora does not take any payment. The pack is paid for with you, as usual (cash, cheque, transfer): you simply record it in Horsora to track how it is used. The price you enter is purely informative.

Set up packs on the web

1. Create your pack templates

  1. Open Settings, then Clients.
  2. Click Pack templates (the button with the ticket icon, at the top of the page).
  3. Click New template and fill in the pack name, the number of sessions, the price (optional) and the validity in months (optional). For example: 10-session pack, 120 EUR, valid 6 months.
  4. Under Applies to, tick the slot types concerned if the pack only covers certain lessons. With nothing ticked, it covers them all.

A template is reusable for all your riders. And no worries if your offers evolve: editing a template never changes the packs already recorded.

2. Record a pack for a rider

  1. Still in Settings, then Clients, find the card of the rider.
  2. Click Session packs, then Add a pack.
  3. Pick one of your templates, or switch to Custom for a one-off pack.

The date you add it starts the validity clock: a pack valid 6 months added on September 1st can be used until March 1st.

3. Enable debiting on your slots

This is the step not to skip: only slots that ask for it debit the packs.

  1. Open your Planning and create or edit a slot.
  2. Tick the Debits session packs checkbox, right below the Approval block.

When you create a slot, the box is already ticked for lesson-type categories. On your existing slots however, remember to enable it yourself by editing them: it is the easiest step to miss.

One pack per lesson type

Many centers charge more for a private lesson than for a group lesson. In that case, create one template per rate and tell each one which slot type it applies to.

For example a "10 group lessons" template limited to the Group lesson category, and a "10 private lessons" template limited to the Private lesson category. The same rider can hold both: Horsora debits the one matching the slot they booked, never the other.

A few pointers:

  • You can tick several types for one template, for example Group lesson and Flat lesson.
  • With nothing ticked, the pack covers every slot that decrements. That is the case for every pack recorded before this change: nothing about them moves.
  • The type is frozen when the pack is added. Editing the template later never re-scopes packs already recorded, exactly like the name or the price.
  • The balance shown adapts. On the slot detail, in the request validation view and when booking, you see the balance usable on that slot. In the client directory you keep the total, with the per pack breakdown one click away.
  • Care slots never debit (vet, farrier, osteopath) and cannot be attached to a pack.

A slot category used by a template or by an active pack can no longer be deleted by mistake: Horsora tells you exactly what is holding it.

On the mobile app

Everything is also available in the app, in the same place:

  • Settings, then Clients: the ticket icon at the top of the screen opens your pack templates. On a rider's row, the ticket icon opens their packs to add one, adjust a balance or check the history.
  • Creating or editing a slot: the same Debits session packs checkbox.
  • Slot detail: each participant carries a "Debited" or "Outside pack" badge, and their balance chip opens their packs directly. Handy to renew a used-up pack without leaving the screen.

What the rider sees

Riders see their balance in read-only mode, without being able to change it:

  • On the web, in Planning, under the My requests tab: "X sessions left", with the validity date.
  • On mobile, in Bookings, under the My sessions tab.
  • When booking, a banner reminds them of their balance. If their pack is used up, or does not cover that lesson type, they are told the session will not be debited.
  • When only one session remains, then none, they receive a notification inviting them to renew with you.

Keep an eye on balances day to day

Balances show up everywhere you need them:

  • On client cards: "X sessions left", or "Used up".
  • In the slot detail, for each participant.
  • In the booking request validation view, so you can decide with full context.

And from a rider's packs, three actions are available:

  • Adjust a balance, with a reason that stays in the history.
  • Check the history: pack added, session debited, session re-credited, manual adjustment.
  • Archive a pack: it is no longer shown or debited, but its history remains available.

Good to know

  • Nothing is ever blocked. A rider without a pack, or with a used-up pack, can still book: the session is simply marked "Outside pack".
  • Debiting happens on confirmation of the booking, never before. A cancelled session, whether by you or by the rider, is automatically re-credited.
  • Several packs can coexist. Among those covering the slot type, Horsora debits the one expiring soonest first.
  • Standing riders are not affected: they are on a subscription, their sessions are never debited. This rule only applies to riding schools, not owner stables.

Session packs are available now for every center, on the web and on mobile. If you are not using Horsora yet, create your free account: setting up takes just a few minutes.
